Impact of HCI on culture
Laptops/mobile computing:  Mobile computing is being able to use a computing device even when on the move. Mobile computers come in a lot of different forms such as laptops, tablet pc’s and smart phones. Mobile computing has impacted culture because it now means that people can get information about various cultures whenever and wherever they are. There are also mobile translators available which are a lot more accurate than online ones which would help you communicate with people from different cultures.
Mobile entertainment: mobile entertainment The impact of this HCI on culture is that it has made people a lot more knowledgeable about other cultures by watching movies and documentaries about other cultures and how they have changed. This HCI has also reduced the barriers between different cultures as there is a wide range of translators available therefore people have been able to communicate easier.
Domestic appliances: The HCI domestic appliances have had an impact on culture because it now means that people are spending a lot less time try to learn how to use domestic appliances. It has also changed the way that we do everyday activities for example washing is now much easier.
Games: The impact this HCI has on culture is that it has created an entirely new gaming culture. This culture is supports all languages and all countries. Gaming has also promotes team building and competitive playing. A lot of online gaming has linked people from different backgrounds and cultures together and allowed them to communicate.
Deskilling work: Deskilling work means replacing somebody’s job with a machine which will be able to do the job quicker, faster and for a lot cheaper. This will impact on culture because wherever deskilling happens the most will increase the level in unemployment will increase a lot. Deskilling also makes people more demoralised as when they are replaced by a machine it makes them feel worthless.
Developing nations:  a developing nation is a nation which is much poorer that most other countries and level of technology will be much less. Developing nations will not have as good technology as richer countries so their lives will be much harder. HCI has impacted quite negatively on developing nations as a lot of waste from richer countries gets sent there and a lot of the waste contains dangerous chemicals which could harm the health of the residents.
